1983 Chanel Gripoix Belt

This stunning belt is signed CHANEL and is dated 1983, which is the year Karl Lagerfeld took over the House of Chanel. The fine workmanship, the heavy gilt metal, the sparkly diamond like crystals and the poured red and green glass is a pretty good indicator this was made by the house of Gripoix. The belt is a marvel. At the stomach hangs three chains with the crystals lined up in the center and alternating glass cabochons to either side. There are two large rosettes with poured glass centers and then a single chain along the back that has a "tassel" finial that hooks to one of the rosettes to fasten the belt closed.
