Rabanne, Paco
Rabanne, part architect, part alchemist. He viewed fashion design more as and experiment than as an art, but of course, what is made is indeed art. Often nicknamed the "Jules Verne of couture" because many of his creations seemed to come from outer space, Rabanne turned to unorthodox materials for his creations. He is often quoted as describing his clothing as "unwearable", and indeed, many were. He was more a provocateur than a couturiere, and though his art has long been coveted and collected, it never really found its way into mainstream fashion. Perhaps that's why we who love vintage, love our Paco
