Gaultier, Jean Paul
Jean Paul Gaultier is sometimes called fashion's enfant terrible, as he tends to break rules and has definitely found his own way of handling fashion. He was never schooled in fashion, but his sketches caught the eye of Pierre Cardin who hired him to design in 1970. He then worked with Jacques Esterel in 1971 and Jean Patou later that year, then launched his first ready to wear collection in 1976 and founded his own couture house in 1997. His style seems to revolve around the beautification of the human figure, but also about giving that figure strength and power.
