Thierry Mugler is best known for his ultra sexy, highly structured suits and dresses, but his creativity has touched the world of menswear, perfume, cosmetics, spirits/liqueurs, film, photography, stage design, and even directed a segment of Cirque du Solei. Mugler was born in Strasbourg France, 1948. His talents in drawing and dance manefested early in his life and by the age of 9, he began to study classical dance. He joined the ballet corps for the Rhin Opera at the age of 14., and soon he began showing intererest in lighting and costume design. He also was taking classes in interior design. At the age of 24 Mugler moved to Paris and began to produce handmade clothing for Gudule. A few years later he found work in various fashion houses as a freelance designer. Mugler's first solo collection was in 1973. In 1978 he opened his first boutique.
