1990s Martin Margiela Skirt
This skirt is special, not because of the design, but because of the textile. It is literally a big rectangle of fabric with ribbon ties at the upper corners. Its a style that dates to the beginning of time. The fabric however is spectacular. It is a woven textile with very thin black threads and thicker metallic silver threads so the silver is very prominent and looks almost liquid. The skirt is unlined. The label is very interesting in that it is printed Collection Autumne Hivier (Autumn Winter) 1990 - 1991. I have never seen a Margiella piece with a printed label like this so I am wondering if this was a archived piece, or perhaps if it was a reissue. The secondary fabric tag was cut out so I have no other clues to go by.
