1994 Martin Margiela "A Doll's Wardrobe" coat

$ 0.00
This collection was, in my opinion one of Martin Margiela's most fabulous. He meticulously recreated outfits for Barbie and Ken to human adlut scale, with the weirdly sized buttons, and strangely placed zippers. Dolls clothing were made as cheaply as possible, so there are anomalies in this collection that you would never seen in "real" fashion. It is very hard to find these pieces. This adorable coat was surely designed for Ken, but it is totally unisex. It is made from 100% cotton, an oversized weave for added drama. It is a loose fit for a person, as Ken had those weird huge shoulders. The buttons are fun.. .note there are no button holes, rather there is a stitching to look like a button hole, but the coat really closes like a doll's with a loop. There is also an open area under the collar in the back, I imagine on the original doll's coat this was a labor saving device, which was carried over to the real piece.
