1990s Geoffrey Beene Evening Dress
This is such an amazing creation. The bodice is incredible. The silver lame is quilted to the silk. There are also two versions of the black and white printed silk, one is the reverse of the other. The black on white silk is also quilted with silver threads. There is a built in, zip up bustier with full boning so everything will stay in place. The way the bodice is pieced together very asymmetrically, it looks like it just blended together naturally, but, of course, this was very designed to give that effect. It is "space age" yet very natural, like a goddess dress. The skirting is a light as air silk jersey. It is pin-tucked for about an inch, then the tucks open to become perfect pleats all around. The hem is finished in a black and white stripe silk, sewn with silver threads.
