1970s Yves Saint Laurent Silk Peasant Dress
If you don't have at least one of these YSL peasant dresses in your collection, you are missing out. If you do have one, chances are you are yearning for another as they are so chic, elegant and easy to wear. This one is especially pretty, with the black velvet, shiny buttoned yolk trimmed with black soutache, the billowy printed silk and that band of velvet that when worn unbelted, gives the dress a drop-waist, 20s-30s look. The print is very striking with the mint green, lipstick red, amethyst and gold on a burgundy background. The print reminds me of painted pottery of Portugal and Spain. The dress has low, hidden side pockets and is unlined. Save for the buttons at the neck and wrists there are no closures. I am showing the dress belted and unbelted, but the dress does not come with a belt.
