1970s Hanae Mori Chiffon Gown
This wondrous creation is truly something to behold, and is even more wondrous to be worn. The tropical print on luscious silk chiffon seems to float around you as you move. The hand rolled edging on the sleeves is so wonderful, still a stand out, with lots of movement even today. The print is as vibrant as it is beautiful, with a nice Hawaiian influence to the touches of traditional Japan. Please notice the silhouette head of a man under the left breast... I have enlarged it (picture on the left, not the bird)... is it just me, or is that Ringo Starr???
The Hanae Mori Japanese Couture label is the most highly prized, and this garment holds it proudly. The Hanae Mori gown from this time period are coveted and collected, and once you own one you know why. It is labeled a size 16, but to todays sizing it fits a size 10-12 well, perhaps a sz 14. It is a rare and beautiful gown, sure to make an impact at any occasion.
