1970s Halston Velvet Tulip Dress

$ 0.00
From the 1977 Halston Runway (see photo below), this gorgeous Halston creation is perfect for any occasion. Its a two piece dress, the beige underdress is as beautifully made from two layers of sheer silk chiffon. The outer dress is made from whisper light burnout velvet (its either silk or a silk/rayon blend). The tulip pattern brings to mind Fortuny.
The dress was created from one huge piece of fabric. It is his signature spiral cut that hangs on the body like a traditional bias cut, adjusting to any figure beautifully. The sleeves are slightly flared to the wrist. I love the contrast in the fabric where the spiral seam intersects. The grains go in opposite directions causing a different sheen on each side.
