1940s Hattie Carnegie Sculptural Tweed Jacket
Oh, isn't this a splendid jacket. Ms Carnegie really stretched her creative wings in designing this smart piece. Made of a gorgeous wool tweed of lilac and black, lined in a slinky black synthetic with simple marbled black plastic buttons down the front. It is fitted and beautifully tailored and if it was just the wonderful fabric and fabulous fit, it would be a great jacket, but Hattie took it beyond by adding the scalloped collar and then those incredible tucked waves down the front that stand out from the jacket adding lots of sculptural interest. The effect is nearly surreal... a la Schiaparelli!! The jacket has a bit of stiffening at the shoulders and hips but it is not padded.
no size, fits like a 6 - 8
