1980s Jean Louis Scherrer Evening Ensemble

Jean Louis Scherrer cut his teeth at Christian Dior and you can see his influence in this design. The ensemble is composed of a skirt and jacket. The fabric is a radiant silk taffeta of light blue that picks up shades of gold in the light. The jacket has a deep neckline and a sunburst gather at the navel where it crosses over the other side, to secure with large snaps and hooks. The jacket is lined and has hidden shoulder pads built in. The skirt is a wonderful creation, tight fitting in the front with a large train in the back. The ensemble is nothing short of divine.
