Scherrer, Jean Louis
Parisian born Jean Louis Scherrer, first trained in ballet, but early in his dance career he abandoned his tights for the art of haute couture. After training at La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, he found work as an assistant to Christian Dior, then to Yves Saint Laurent after Dior's death. He went on to design for Louis Feraud in the early 1960s, then founded his own label in 1962.
