1980s Halston custome made for Ann Miller Ensemble

This is truly a one of a kind Halston creation. This was custom made for Hollywood legend ANN MILLER in the early 1980s when she was having her "comeback" starring on Broadway in the Hit Sugarbabies. The first photo is Miss Miller wearing the ensemble at the unveiling of her Blackglama Mink campaign, the last photo is Miss Miller in this Halston with Donald O'Connor heading out for an evening on the town.

The jumpsuit, or as Miss Miller called them, her "Black Halston Pajamas" as handwritten (presumably Miss Miller's own hand) on the original box that will come with the ensemble, was custom made for her. These beaded Hasltons were generally "made to order", and were basically identical versions of a certain design, made for a specific customer. I have seen this beaded pattern done in a 3 piece ensemble consisting of a short halter, elastic waist pants and the jacket. What Halston did specially for Miss Miller was to make the top and pants an all in one, with a zipper back instead of the elastic. When you look at the interior seams you will notice extra beaded fabric added to the bodice along the arms to accommodate her curves. I am 100% certain that these alterations were done by Halston, as the fabrics and beads match perfectly. These beaded pieces were hand beaded in India then imported to New York, so it would reason that they would need to work from the pre-made ones as a base, then alter them for the more prestigious client to suit their personal style.

This ensemble is sheer. As you can see in the photos of Miss Miller, she wore it with a strapless body suit, which really showed off her amazing legs. I bought this ensemble thinking it was unlabeled, but as I was switching the old tissue paper for fresh acid free paper from the box, I found the label in the yellowed sheets, so this will come with the Halston label. the jacket is so sheer, you will probably not wish to put it back in.

condition: very good, a few beads are missing here and there, but no bare patches.
