1980s Galanos Goddess Gown

I don't use the word "sublime" often, but for this dress, it is the only word that really fits.
This SUBLIME creation has the look of old Hollywood glamour with the twists, gathers and drapes. The velvet is divine. There is no fabric content label (its couture of course) but I am sure its a silk or silk/rayon velvet. It seems white, but the tips of the fibers have a violet, iridescent sheen that is incredibly striking. The last picture gives you an idea, but doesn't show its luminous nature.

The bodice was masterfully pieced together for the twists at the neck and waist. There is a built in corset with boning for a perfect, stay put fit. The skirting is a wrapover style, open all the way up the front, but there is a generous overlap so you don't have to worry about showing too much. The twist at the waist is made from the edges of the skirting twisting around each other, traveling around to the back. There is a hidden back zipper and tiny zippers at the wrists. It is a masterpiece.
