George Halley is one of the most under-rated designers of the 1960s and 1970s. I find his designs to be lovely, and the quality of the materials and craftsmanship to be top notch. His Claudia line was named for his wife, a former model for Norman Norell. The pieces I have seen from the Claudia line seem to be more styled towards day-wear, with a pension for lush, eye-catching fabrics, and tailored, chic cuts. This dress is made from a ultra soft wool, that may be cashmere or a cashmere blend. As you can see, the stripes in shades of gray and black are striking, and they way they are arranged creates a beautiful look. The dress has a long back zipper and is lined in silk. There are belt loops but sadly, there is no matching belt.
