1950s Balenciaga Eisa Dress
This is not your average little black dress. It is a hand made creation by the master couturier Cristobal Balenciaga. This dress is perfect in every way. It is graceful, sexy, flirty and fun. Of course Eisa was the Spanish version of his Paris boutique.
The fabric is a rich, deluxe, highly lustrous silk satin in a deep jet black. The fabric is unparalleled by any made now. The bodice is intricately boned to hold up the strapless style. The waist comes in narrow, and continues to conform to the body past the natural waist, then the skirt explodes out right at the crest of the hip. This silhouette is exaggerated by the skirt which comes out right at the hip bones accentuating the figure. The back of the dress seems to have a bit more fabric than the front, creating deep folds, which creates dramatic light effects with the luminous satin. The zipper is placed on the left side, the dress is unlined.
