1920s Reproduction 3 Piece Flapper Ensemble
This is a couture piece made in the early 1990s in the style of the Roaring Twenties. The fabric is medium/heavy silk crepe. The trim dates to the 1920s, having been lovingly stored, it is in near mint condition. The dress is lovely. There are no closures, it is put on over the head and hangs freely to the hem. There is a band of trim at the chest, then a double band at the hem. A lovely rosette of the trip was created and applied on the left hip, the fabric was gathered at the rosette adding texture to the dress and creating a slight raise in the front hem. The shoulders were finished with sheer, black silk chiffon. The jacket is simple and elegant with no closures, made to be worn open to show the dress. The cuffs and hem are finished with the lovely trim. It is lined in petal pink silk. The little crown/hat is really fabulous, created from the trim and adorned with cut crystals and beads. The back band is silk over elastic for a perfect fit. Though this is not true vintage, it is a masterful recreation of Haute Couture of the period. The advantage of wearing this ensemble over a true vintage one is that you won't need to take extra care when wearing as the fabric is strong and fresh. This dress would be ideal for a theme party, or any occasion you wish to make a splash.
