This is by far the be all and end all of vintage Chanel jackets! It is the most supreme example of her classic jacket that I have ever seen!
The fabric is the Godmother of all modern Chanel fantasy tweeds. The wool yarns are different sizes and textures, there are even some ribbons woven in as well. The colors are vibrant reds, greens, oranges, browns and jet black, the pattern reminds me of dragon's wings. The jacket trim seems to also have been hand made, it is very soft wool, and is very fine quality. The jacket is lined in quilted black silk, the buttons are plain black plastic. There is, of course, a gold chain sewn to the hem.
The cut is a bit more fitted than the usual Chanel jacket of this time. The matching belt (leather covered in the tweed) accentuates the waist. The lower breast pockets and curved hip pockets are very well placed to also accentuate the figure. The length of the jacket is also quite wonderful as it is long enough to wear with black leggings and boots for a micro-mini look. Of course, wearing it with a skirt or pants would be fabulous as well. The jacket is truly sublime. This is a haute couture garment, there is a handwritten serial number under the Chanel label.
condition: excellent - a few small repairs to the silk lining, but the outer tweed is perfect
