Isn't this a fun little dress? Its a hodge podge of lace of various styles adorning a silk chiffon dress. When the lace was put to the dress, I have no idea, but I don't think it was original to the silk as the application is not as good a quality as the dress finishes. It is my theory, based on the fact that some areas of the dress seem to have been restyled, that the silk dress dated to the earlier part of the century and an ambitious flapper revamped it using old lace. This scenario could be applied to any time after the 1920s, and since all the lace seems to predate the dress, there are no clues to go by. The dress is a peachy sand color. The laces are quite lovely, the bottom panel seems to be an old gros point lace, the pieces at the bodice are crochet lace and some fillet lace in the back. There is also a fun little bunch of faded silk velevet flowers on the left hip. The dress is unlined and quite sheer.
