1991 ALAIA "Tati Collection" Black & White Check Dress
The check dress from the famed "Tati Collection" of 1991 is a very coveted find. The collection was inspired by, and named for the Parisian discount department store Tati whose logo is the Tati name on a check background, and though there were many creations from that collection that were not done in check, its the ones that are that are the most sought after and recognizable. This lovely dress is a blend of cotton, nylon and elastic that has enough stretch to form to your body, but enough substance to mask any flaws you may not wish to show. The neckline, arm holes and hem are finished in a black and white stripe trim. The dress is unlined and has a back zipper. It is a classic Alaia cut that hugs and flatters. I love how the back pattern lines up perfectly, creating an almost op-art effect.
