1990s Jean Paul Gaultier Dress
What a knock out!! This is a two piece gown. The under-dress is a shiny, silky, burgundy rayon, cut on the bias, that slips over the head, crossing in the back. The outer-dress is a gorgeous floral motif lace made of rayon, nylon and spandex. Of course, a good Gaultier gown will have some twists and turns, and this divine little dress shows it's charm in that it is sewn inside out. The lines bring to mind a sexy 1940s cut, but turned inside out so the wide seam allowances are left to attract attention, the dress takes on modern, fun, frivolous look. The dress also has no closures and just slips on over the head. I love how the slip skims the body, and how the lace hangs perfectly from the body, creating an etherial space between the layers. It is truly magnificent!
