1980s Pauline Wynne Jones Silk Dress
Pauline Wynne Jones. Most folks will not recognize this name as Wynne Jones never went mainstream with her clothing, preferring to cater to select clients and shops. She was born in Wales and moved to London where she worked for Jean Muir in the 1960s. In the 1970s she started her own line which continued through the 1980s. Not willing to compromise on her standards she went into academics rather than mass production. This dress is a rare find and a fine example of her unique style. The dress is pure silk printed in an abstract of blue and pink. The quality of the fabric is absolutely top notch. The cut of the dress is really "new wave" with that finely pieced, one sided lapel, the ultra fabulous buttoned cuffs (note, though there are three buttons on the side shown above, the actual closure is on the inside of the wrist a a simple single button), the interesting triangular pleat at the stomach and the super cool belt. Surprisingly enough, there are no shoulder pads. The dress closes with a few buttons up the bodice.
size 6 - I think this is a US size 6 not a UK 6
