1970s Tina Leser Cherry Blossom Print Dress
This dress is quite a surprise. The beautiful cherry blossom print on fine silk chiffon, and the cape flutter sleeves brings to mind designs by Hanae Mori, but this is indeed a Tina Leser. The print has an ethereal, hand painted quality which pairs perfectly with the soft flutter sleeves and long, fluid lines.
Tina Leser is most famous for her use of exotic textiles, and this dress is certainly an example of her more exotic side. There are belt loops, but the original belt is long gone. I think its fine without, or try it with a pink sash or gold belt. The dress closes with a back zipper and snaps. The skirt is attached at the waist and has a 5" overlap on either side of the zipper and is open all the way from the waist to the hem. The overlap creates enough coverage that you need to worry about exposing too much skin, but the openness gives the wearer the seamless slim look, as well as unlimited freedom of movement. The dress is lined in silk crepe.
