1970s Hubert Givenchy Haute Couture Black Dress
This is a classic, timeless couture creation by Givenchy. It has all the bells and whistles that you could want in one of his designs. The sleeves are nothing short of remarkable, a little something he must have picked up from Balenciaga. They pouf out to the sides, but not toward the body so they hang perfectly in gentle folds with the cuff right over the elbow. The bodice has a slight blouson over the waist, the skirting hangs beautifully over the hips. From the back the dress is even more dramatic with a plunging V back from the shoulder to the waist. At the waist is a perfect little ruffle drawing the eye to the base of the V. The fabric is an incredible puckered silk crepe. It is a very rare, very couture style of silk that is rarely seen. The dress is lined in silk, there is a petersham ribbon at the waist, several hooks at the ruffle and a few snaps down the back of the skirt. The numbered couture tag is hidden behind the Givenchy label.
It is in excellent condition with no flaws to note
