1970s Halston Lily Ensemble
Halston was so ahead of his time. Just look at this incredible ensemble, it dates to the late 1970s, but it looks like it could have walked off this Spring's runway.
The fabric is a double layer of heavy silk crepe, it has amazing weight and hangs perfectly with the shape of the top. The top only has seams under the arms and down the sides, this is one of Halston's signatures, using one large, perfectly designed and cut piece of fabric to create a divinely shaped garment. Look how that back dips down to a point, its pure brilliance in design and construction. The skirt is also a double layer of the silk. It is a classic, tight fitting pencil skirt, with one side pocket, and a zipper closure on the other side.
The lily print looks like it could have been hand painted. The blooms are delicate, nearly fragile looking, so lovely you can almost smell their fragrance. The violet satin belt ties it all together perfectly.
size USA 6, the skirt fits more like a 4
bust to 40"
length 17"down the side, longer in the front and back
