1960s Donald Brooks Velvet Dress
I have been holding onto a few of my better Donald Brooks pieces, waiting for the market to finally recognise his talent.
After his death in 2005, his work has gradually increased in value, and now I feel the world is ready for this magnificent dress.
Made of the richest and most divine velvet, printed in a gorgeous jewel tone paisley. The bodice is line in silk, the skirting is lined in organza for extra fullness. There is a band of mesh at the hem and at the wrists to keep a nice puff and stiffness. The empire waist and dramatic decolletage is incredibly chic. The dress has a back zipper closure and a hip pocket.
