1960s Balenciaga Fox Trimmed Coat
Its true, I do love vintage Balenciaga, but OMG!!! THIS COAT is just sublime! If you don't know, Eisa was Balenciaga's Spanish fashion house, started before he left for Paris, continuing through the 1960s, selling haute couture to the Spanish elite.
This divine creation was made of rich black wool with a longish nap giving the fabric wonderful texture. As you can see, the bottom is trimmed in a wide band of glossy, gorgeous jet black fox fur.
The cut of the coat is true Balenciaga genius. Its not fitted but it does show the feminine figure with sloping shoulders, a slightly nipped waist and a little flair in the skirt. The collar is remarkable. If the top button is closed it will stand up around the neck, if the button is left open it will fall gracefully to two points. The shiny black buttons go beautifully with the glossy black fur trim. The coat is lined in black silk taffeta.
