1950 Helen Bond Carruthers Cashmere Sweater
This sweater is a feast for the eyes, and a treat for the senses. Of course, Carruthers bought premade sweaters and decorated them with antique embroideries and trims. This particular sweater is a pale peachy pink. The first two photos are a bit dark, the last series are more accurate in color. The embroidery is very, very fine and was probably once a piano shawl before it was "up-cycled" into this magnificent creation. The sweater has small faux pear buttons down the front, and a silk chiffon lining.
