1940s Rick-Rack Lace Long Jacket
This is such an interesting and unique piece! It is made entirely of very fine (probably either silk or rayon) rick-rack, zigzag ribbon hand sewn into a glorious ribbon lace. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom to see the detail, it must have taken hundreds of hours to create this gorgeous garment.
It is long and loose, with a velvet trim at the neck and long, double velvet ties. There are hooks at the neck but they are hook to hook, with no eyes so I am thinking this was made to be worn over a dress that it was supposed to hook to the dress. Eyes could easily be put on one side should you wish to close it like that.
