1970s Arnold Scaasi Buttercup Ruched Gown
This gown is so very lovely. It is a rare Scaasi couture creation made from a scrumptious silk crepe in a delightful shade of yellow. The bodice is fully boned and lined in silk. The ruching was, of course, all hand done, each pleat was hand sewn individually to the bodice, with tighter, smaller pleats at the waist to create depth and a slimming look. I love how he arched the neckline up in the front and down in the back, and did the opposite arrangement at the hips. The bustle style pouf at the derriere is playful yet dramatic. The skirting pours down from under the ruching in a double layer that adds weight and movement to the skirt.
