1960s Jean Patou Wool Dress

I have to say, the years Michel Goma was the head designer of Patou (1963 - 1974) were my favorite, post Patou's death of course. His designs were so fresh, crisp and perfectly tailored, I am simply delighted every time I find one and this darling little black dress just tickled me silly. It is nine steps beyond elegant, yet has a fun, youthful feel too. It is made from jet black woven wool with just a touch of nylon and is lined in silky black rayon. The cut of the dress is so wonderful, from the wide turtle neck, to the sexy bared shoulders, to the fitted bodice, to the flared skirting, and then there are the little details like the double stitched outlines to the seams and the huge button at the back of the neck. The dress closes with a long back zipper and there are even deep, hidden hip pockets. This dress is a real winner!!!
