1950s Claire McCardell Black Hooked-up Dress

This is a wonderful McCardell creation of black wool with gold corset hooks and eyelets all down the front. I love the loose drape over the front of the shoulders, the two soft pleats at the waist in the front and the way the waistline gently curves down in the back with all the pleats in the skirt. This is pure American design!! A unique creation by a woman far ahead of her time.
