1950s Jacques Griffe lace evening gown

$ 0.00

This is an AMAZING gown by Jacques Griffe. In 1950, after several years as one of Paris' greatest couturiers, Griffe opened his Evolution boutique taking over Molyneux's address (where he once was an apprentice) on Rue de Royale. Though the Evolution boutique was not true made to order couture, the pieces I have found with this label could easily be called couture, as the fabrics are top quality, the designs are fabulous and the workmanship is couture quality, with hand finishes and many flourishes.

The gown you see is of taupe guipure lace over a pinkish brown silk taffeta. It is a fitted sheath style with a fine gather at the left knee that explodes to the ankle in taupe tulle. The bodice has metal stays along the sides and closes up the back with a metal eclair zipper. Silk covered fabric weights will be found suspended near the hem for a perfect drape and fit.

condition: Excellent.
