1980s Oscar de la Renta Ball Gown

This gown is truly stunning. Another glorious masterwork by the amazing de la Renta!
The bodice is sheer tulle covered in beads and sequins. Note, there is no lining and it is sheer right to the bust, and from there down the tulle is covered entirely in sequins (be sure to scroll down to the close up of the sequins to see how incredibly beautiful it is, and notice the 3 dimensional flowers). It is a very daring and very beautiful effect. The jet black silk satin skirting comes up to just under the bust to an empire height, but it is fitted through the waist , then the skirt falls to the floor in graceful pleats. The pin tucks to the bust are covered in ribbons of black velvet. There is a black velvet ribbon tie at the back, over a line of velvet buttons that actually are just for show, covering an invisible zipper. The back of the bodice is open from the satin to the neck. The skirt is lined in silk, the lining has a "horsehair" band at the hem for extra volume.
