1980s Roberto Capucci Sculptural Dress
This dress came to me with a matching jacket and it was a hard choice to separate the set, but each piece stood on its own so well I felt it was a good thing to give you the option of one or both. There are no fabric tags but I think it is silk or perhaps a silk blend. It is wonderfully luminous jet black, soft, yet stiff enough to achieve the sculpted look of the dress. It is a fitted sheath style of dress that is so classic and easy to wear. The shoulders however are tres avant garde with a bit of structure to have them stand out so beautifully. Mugler does an effect like this with some of his dresses, but Capucci's interpretation is so much softer and more fluid. The construction is impeccable, as you would expect from this Roman master of couture.
