1940s Schiaparelli Purse

This is a beautiful purse designed by Schiaparelli and manufactured by Whiting & Davis. As soon as I saw it, I knew from the design it was Schiaparelli, but it took me the longest time to find the signature to prove it. It is signed Schiparelli in the lining, right on the inside pocket, but the lining is gold silk and the signature is gold so you really have to look to find it.;
The main body of the purse is made from tiny domes that give the purse a silky, luxurious feel. The handle is gold mesh, with a little slide that will secure the closure of the purse. The frame has lost its shiny gold patina, all but in a few spots. If these spots did not remain I would have never known there was a gold finish, as the base metal is gold tone so it looks fine.
The purse is in good condition for the age, but it does show a few flaws. The gold finish on the frame has rubbed off, as mentioned above. There are a few very fine scratches on the frame where the handle attaches and has rubbed the frame. The lining shows a bit of wear but there are no major flaws to mention.
Given the beauty and rarity of the piece, the flaws are easily overlooked.
