1980s Gold Flecked Origami Pleated Jacket
The term "origami pleated" has been grossly overused the past few years, but in the case of this jacket, it is quite appropriate. This jacket is like a sculpture, both on the hanger and on the body. It brings to mind designs by Issey Miyake, but it is completely unlabeled so I can't point to anyone as the creator. The fabric is a rich greenish gold with the sheen of silk but with a much heavier texture. The fabric is adorned with little clusters of gold flecks. This is not that tacky glued on glitter effect (that I loathe) but rather these are metallic gold bits adhered to the fabric so smoothly that when you feel it, there are no bumps or scratchiness. It is truly beautiful. The pleats are deep and tight and seem to be permanent. The collar stands high against the neck and the sleeves bow out at the shoulders. The jacket is unlined and there are no closures.
