1960s Annacat Velour Dress

$ 0.00

Annacat was one of the "IT" shops in Swinging London, along side of Ossie Clark, Thea Porter and Biba. Started in 1965 by Jane Lyle Maggie Keswick, two socialities who were in the center of the British fashion scene. Their designs were chic and expressive, with a good dose of playful whimsy. Annacat pieces are very, very rare. They were a small shop, and their short lived stint in retail really never took off. In my whole carrier I have seen only 2 pieces in person.
This dress is a really wonderful thing. Made from mossy green velour. The print is totally psychedelic, black swirls and crazy marble like spheres. Nehru collar, buttons down the bodice, and a small pocket on the right hip. The dress is a simple tunic cut with a very slight flair to the hem.
