1950s 14k Gold & Turquoise Cocktail Ring
This fun, over the top cocktail ring is a true riot of color and sparkle. The main stone I believe is turquoise. It is surrounded by a ring of little clear cut stones, they could be diamonds, white sapphires, or cut crystal, I honestly don't know and haven't bothered to test them. Around this sparkle ring are 8 half sphere cabochons. I will do my best to describe them. Starting at the one that is obviously turquoise in a deeper blue than the large central stone, to the right is a very clear moonstone, then a very dark green stone, possibly tourmaline, then what I believe is a star moonstone, then orange carnelian, then what I thought was black onyx until I took the ring outside and saw it threw a star so I am thinking it is a black star sapphire, then a gold color clear stone with a cat's eye effect, then a spotted green stone, possibly jade.
The crafting of the ring brings to mind Italy with the twisted rope details and the elaborately spokes in the back, but I cannot say where this lovely ring was made.
The ring is stamped 585 - 14k on a little circle of gold behind the little turquoise stone.
It is very hard to find and impossible to photograph. It is a small ring, Size 5 to be exact.
The crown of the ring stands about 3/4" over the finger. The face measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/8
