1940s Mdm Gres style Pleated Goddess Gown
This lovely gown was found near Paris but sadly it is unlabeled so I cannot say who designed it. The purple crepe is silk or rayon and is of very good quality. The gown is however lined in cotton so it is possible this was a copy or perhaps it was made by one of the smaller couture houses of Paris. It is incredibly beautiful and very wearable.
I love the one shoulder design that is unique and graceful with the little twist and the way it falls over the shoulder. The bodice is quite stunning, and just look at the pleating on the back that comes around to the front just slightly over the left hip. Its a riot of pleats in the back, and a more smooth, elegant look at the front. The dress has a side, metal zipper.
