1960s Bill Blass - Maurice Renter Little Black Dress

This is a really interesting dress by a very young Bill Blass. You can tell he was stretching his wings, coming up with innovative ideas to bring unique designs to American fashion. This dress is so simple yet complex, it has the look and feel of a Balenciaga creation. Its a heavy silk of jet black. The zipper runs up the front, and is then covered by the cross over panel that attaches at the left shoulder. Thankfully the front is labeled as so otherwise the wearer could get confused which way is right. Little rhinestone buttons at the shoulders finish off the look perfectly.
